SENATOR MIRIAM DEFENSOR-SANTIAGO’S SENATE BILL N0. 1967 OR “ANTI-EPAL BILL

Senate Bill N0.1967 or “Anti-Epal Bill” is one of the several legislative initiatives of Senator Miriam Santiago which aims to protect “monies of Juan dela Cruz” from being unnecessarily wasted. It is a proposed measure to protect precious taxpayers’ monies from being used to personally glorify politicians and Bureaucrats through billboard announcements of their projects bearing their names which in effect, the credits must be addressed to the Filipino people.
Anti-Epal Bill is envisioned to divest bureaucrats and politicians the power and authority to use people’s monies for publicity that, in most cases not needed. The best publicities for public projects are the “actual finished projects” the people may see and discern. People will be more impressed with the finished projects than the giant billboards without seeing the projects taking shape to the finish stages.
Once it becomes a law and properly implemented, it has more pluses that accrue to the coffers of the government in terms of sizeable savings to be generated that could be used for more worthwhile public works to improve the lives of the people.
